Successful Leadership

I recently read a passage on the Message Board website for ThePoloPost.com that said "The essence of successful leadership is transparency and accountability."  I read a post on the Message Board of The PoloZone regarding the APHA that took a dozen posts to conclude that there is a wealth of misinformation floating around the polo community.  It’s time that the books were opened up.  It’s time that the truth is shared with the membership of the USPA.  It is time that the current administration evolved into a semblence of successful leadership.  It is time that the USPA and the PTF became transparent and accountable.

Any thoughts on this?

  • It seems to me that all that is being asked is for our association to “let us in”, basically so we can pass judgement on our own future. If we are mistaken about how we as a body interpret the little bit of info we have access to then correct us and fill us in, and do it all the way. I recently was mistaken about a situation regarding the Open, and fortunately someone who cared enough called me and gave me information that I did not previously have. Armed with that info, what I had percieved as a potential “wrong” was nothing of the sort.
It seems we ask questions, submit ideas and show massive concern for our own well being yet the leadership hasn’t responded with any significance whatsoever. If they have then someone show me where to find the info so I can see where our leaders are leading us.
I believe that the right people with the right plan will have the entire member body’ attention & ultimately their support. I simply can’t be wrong about that. I don’t know, I just feel strongly that it is absolutely time to take advantage of some of the “natural resources” we have out there and use them like never before to build ourselves back up into the formidable presence in polo that we were decades ago.
